Tara Akuna-Acupuncturist

History
I became an acupuncturist because I truly believe it’s our nature to feel happy, connected, healthy and alive with purpose. Being the curious person I am, I’m always learning, keeping my finger on the pulse of what’s new in health, while deepening my skills in this classical medicine.
education
Feeling grateful to have lived on the west coast for 15 years, I completed my 4 year graduate schooling at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Vancouver in Vancouver, BC in 2011. I graduated with the diplomas of: Acupuncture, Herbalist, Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner.
Having done my undergrad in Psychology, I combined my interests in mental emotional wellness with healing the physical body.
technique
You may be surprised that I’m putting points into your hands and arms for your lower back pain. Don’t worry, this is because I use the highly-effective style of Balance Method acupuncture, taught by the late Dr. Richard Tan.

This incredible acupuncture technique is gentle and produces immediate results. The classic theory of acupuncture says that as soon as a point is placed in the body, there should be an immediate shift. I’ve been using this style exclusively for most of my practice and it blows me (and my patients) away each and every time.

If you’re scared of needles, I’m your girl! I’m known for being super gentle, calming, and I have many different acupuncture tools such as laser and buttons that are completely pain free and work just as well.
services
My rolodex of tools includes: gentle acupuncture treatments, addressing your nutrition with my healing food program the Yin Yang Diet www.SaraandTara.com , nervous system regulation techniques, mindset and lifestyle coaching, and my famous acupuncture buttons (acupuncture on the go).

Acupuncture is a gentle and safe healing therapy for you and your family, from babies, children to adults.
