Julie Stark-RMT

History
Growing up with an active lifestyle has allowed me to learn about optimal movement and performance through participation, competition and coaching for both team and individual sports (soccer, martial arts, archery and weightlifting- with kettlebells or barbell). I love that through my massage practice I can combine my interests in teaching, helping others, problem solving and physical activity.
education
I completed a BSc degree in 1998 from the University of Guelph. Looking for a more personal touch in my career, I graduated from ICT Kikkawa College as an RMT in 2001. In 2015 I completed my CDT designation for the Dr Vodder technique of Manual Lymph Drainage, which has greatly enhanced my ability to treat conditions involving edema, inflammation and pain. I have recently begun the process to become an instructor in the Vodder MLD technique.
technique
I believe that every body is individual, and I respect every client’s health goals, from stress relief to rehabilitation to improved performance. My goal is to determine the cause of your symptoms, so that we can achieve the best results possible with your treatment. I will help educate you about your body, and give you suggestions to help you achieve optimal health and meet your health and wellness goals.
services
Along with Swedish massage (the core of RMT training), I have continued to expand my skills with certification in Advanced Sports Massage, Pre- and Post-natal Massage, Soft Tissue Release (a deep fascial technique), Manual Lymph Drainage and Lymph Taping. Manual lymph drainage is a gentle technique which helps your body clear excess fluid and waste from connective tissue. This will reduce edema, inflammation and pain. It can be applied for a wide variety of reasons, including headaches, sinus congestion, pre- and post- surgery and lymphedema. Lymph taping can also be applied to decrease tension across the skin and further assist with drainage.
